Books and stuff

rustypants speaks

Books that have been on my summer reading list (and that I highly recommend:

A New Kind of Christian - Brian McLaren
The Great Divorce - CS Lewis
Seven Practices of Effective Ministry - Andy Stanley
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince - JK Rowling

More commentary on these books soon. Obviously the first couple are theology / ministry related and have been changing my perspective not only on ministry, but on how I live as a follower of Jesus. Harry Potter is just a good series of books - what more can I say?

Six months in between?

i'm one of those saavy bloggers, can't you tell?

summer's half over and i can't figure out where the first half went.

vacation along US 60 thru w.va, va, md, de was great - had a chance to stop in on some friends, hit the beach several times in several states, eat good food, hang out together and just relax.

last week was consumed with camp (www.campchazon.com) and it was a great time. could have done without the 5 straight days of rain, but you hardly notice when you're having fun.

the rest of summer is coming at me like a freight train - lots of youth ministry stuff and school stuff still to work on. no big travel plans besides lise going to visit her family the last weekend in july. one of our girls from youth groups past is coming for a visit the 2nd weekend in august - that will be a blast. we didn't get to see crissey last time we were in md, so have a lot of catch-up to play.

i'm still trying to figure out if i should bother keeping this blog - i get nothing cathartic from it and don't know why anyone would care to read it. comments? questions? rude remarks?
